Knott’s Berry Farm is a wonderful Anaheim California attraction that focuses on newer and faster thrill rides that target Southern California youths and families. For generations, Knott’s Berry Farm theme park has been a favorite place to go for family fun and thrills. Like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm is not without historical background. Rudolph Boysen crossed a loganberry with a raspberry, calling the resulting hybrid the boysenberry. In 1933, Buena Park farmer Walter Knott planted the boysenberry and launched Knott’s berry farm on 10 acres of leased land. When things got tough during the Depression, Mrs. Knott set up a roadside stand, selling pies, preserves, and home-cooked chicken dinners. Within a year she was selling 90 meals a day. Lines became so long that Walter decided to create an Old West Ghost Town as a diversion for waiting customers.
Built on 160 acres, Knott’s blends the perfect mix of its original old world charm and adrenaline packed rides. Thrill seekers be sure to check out the “Ghost Rider” wooden roller coaster and “Perilous Plunge”, the world’s tallest, steepest and wettest water ride. If you’re feeling really brave strap yourself into the “Supreme Scream”, a 30 story tall free fall ride that is sure to knock your socks off.
When visiting Knott’s Berry Farm, don’t miss the Wild West Stunt Show in Ghost Town or Camp Snoopy, the six-acre home of SNOOPY, LUCY, CHARLIE BROWN and the GANG. Camp Snoopy serves up pint sized thrill rides and shows that will keep the youngsters coming back for more. Knott’s Berry Farm also offers an abundance of spectacular entertainment, shops and dining to make your day in the Wild West one to remember. Knott’s is open every day except Christmas.
